The HR West 2016 Conference presented by the Northern California HR Association (NCHRA) will feature a session entitled ‘Legally Using Criminal Background Checks for California Employers’ by Attorney Lester Rosen, the founder and CEO of Employment Screening Resources (ESR), on Monday, March 7, 2016, from 3:30 PM to 4:45 PM PT.
“Employers know conducting criminal background checks is essential to hiring top talent while minimizing negligent hiring liability,” says Rosen, the author of “The Safe Hiring Manual,” a comprehensive guide for background checks. “They must learn to protect their organizations from the perils of improperly conducted criminal background checks.”
Rosen says a seismic shift in legislation and regulations that surround the use of criminal records makes navigating the legalities of criminal background checks difficult. Companies that have not adjusted their policies risk expensive class action lawsuits. The HR West session explores the importance and guidelines of creating a compliant use policy.
HR West 2016 will take place from March 7-9, 2016 at the Oakland Convention Center is Oakland, California. The NCHRA is one of the nation’s largest regional HR associations serving a community of more than 20,000 throughout Northern California.
